Can anyone suggest a makeup tip on how to get a flawless look? Do you have a special technique or using any tools to get the smooth finish. What kind of brush do you use?
Thanks in advance

To achieve a flawless look, you need to have a good quality foundation and concealer because those are the most important makeup products you need to pull this off. The concealer will hide imperfections and the foundation will even out your skin tone. Make sure you cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face before applying your face products. I use Revlon Color Stay Concealer and Revlon Color Stay Mineral Foundation and my makeup brushes are from Face Shop.

Use a concealer that is a shade or two lighter than your skin tone if you want to cover up those dark circles under your eyes. When hiding imperfections in your face, use a concealer that matches your skin tone. Remember take your time to make sure that you blend the concealer in your face well. If you need more coverage, let the first layer set first before putting another one. You can use your fingers, sponge, or a concealer brush to blend in the product in your face.

In applying a liquid foundation, I use a damp sponge as it glides in your face smoothly and makes the application easy. When using powder or mineral foundation, I use a good kabuki brush, although chisel brush is also good. Blending the foundation well is important to make the look flawless and not cakey. Lighting is also very important so you see the results. Natural light is advisable.

Use a light matte eyeshadow, lip and cheek tint and a clear mascara for a more natural look. l. However if you really need to use a black or brown mascara, just wipe it off your lashes one time to avoid clumping and not make it too obvious. I also like to use white eyeliner on my lower lash line because it makes me look more refreshed.

I am using a mineral powder foundation. Sometimes, its hard for me to get the smooth finish on my face. I hate it when it gets cakey.

What brand of mineral powder are you using? The trick when using a mineral powder foundation is to apply more moisturizer on your face after cleansing and toning. The mineral powder melts on the foundation after a few minutes of applying it and it gives you an elegant glow. It does not cake at all. I do this all the time and it never fails to work. I hope it does on work on you too. Let me know what happens after you do this so we can look for other ways to stop your foundation from caking :)

I am using a mineral foundation from Ellana Minerals. I realized that when I didn't put much moisturizer on my face, I get a dried up look with my foundation. Or maybe its also because of the cold weather

I don't think it has something to do with the weather. It has to be the base that you are using. You should have a good base so your mineral foundation blends on your skin and put it in place well.

I've tried #### of foundations...from powder, cream, to liquid types...
As for brands...I've tried Makeup Forever (used to be my fav), Laura Mercier, MAC, Lancome, Shu Uemura, Shiseido, etc, etc....
I guess my skin is a bit thin which I can't take heavy ones like MAC.... and somehow my skin really fits well with Asian brands. LOL

Because I have serious dry skin (my nose or forehead's skin are too dry sometime that can crack n peel off)...
so I can never skip the 1,2,3 processes.. haha.
My makeup process are;)...
1. wash face, tone it, moisturize it.
*I use Japanese products for all these. The only non-Asian products are Skinsutical's beauty essence
2. apply makeup base!! (very important! b/c it adds additional moist)
*I have several..one from laura mercier, and the rest from Japanese brands)
3. apply pore invisibles and concealer. (w/o this my skin will not look flawless)
*Again Japanese product & I'm using 3rd one currently.
4. apply liquid foundation (or BB cream, etc)

5. If Im going out and will take lots of pictures (lol) I would add a layer of face powder as a Finish.
*Again..Japanese product..lol

I started to use laura mercier last year...(I got the pack at Sephora...for I believe it was $65 or so...)
I liked it..very natural & easy to spread on my face...
But I though it was missing something... so I just use them on regular days (days I dont take pictures.haha) & I use BB cream more these days :p

As I was reading the threads..... Maybe your skin type isnt matching with the foundation you are currently using?? Try several types like powder, cream, and liquid type.

I'm not sure if American ones has more detail with those 3 types...
But if you ever have a chance to try Japanese foundation..they are GREAT! :D

within that 3 types.. they even have different types for Dry, Normal, Oil & Acne skin type... so for your case, you can get dry skin type's powder or cream, or liquid foundation easily!!

As for me...my own boom is to use BB Cream..which is very popular (at least every Asians have heard I believe..)

It is originated from Korea....which its soo perfect! I've already tried several brands..& all of them are wonderful!!!
There are Japanese BB creams these days in the market...but I prefer the Korean ones (even I'm a Japanese cosmetic freak.lol)
simply because I think it is originated from Korea & it should be the best! lol

Try google it about BB Cream, maybe you will like the product :)

I have not tried BB cream yet but I have heard of it. I saw a review of Hanh's Missha BB Cream and I really liked it but I have always been Revlon Foundation from liquid, to powder (compact), to mineral and I really like it. I had a terrible experience with one makeup product that I used so I am very careful when it comes to choosing my foundation and powder. And since Revlon has always been good to me and my skin, I always prefer to use it as I feel more secure with it. I saw a few sample packs on sale in ebay of Missha BB Creams and I think I'll go ahead and try them first and see how it goes :).

Thanks for all the info cosmeticlover! I really enjoy reading your posts. Keep them coming :)

hello Dazzler!!

U said samples are sold online??
Arr.r...... You should never spend $$ on samples!!!

Aren't samples=free? lol (At least that's my understanding is...) hahah

Well the store I go often (the cosmeXXXd in the Puente Hills Mall) has lots of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc skin care samples & if not testers!!!

That's why I always go there and checkout if they have anything new! :p
& If they have..I just ask for free samples... :D
Eventhough I think the samples sold online aren't expensive..but I wouldnt want to spend that little $$.... & its sad when you spend that $ & the samples doesnt even fits you...

Check out some local stores around your place...or try to visit the stores I've mentioned before...because they are the stores where I get free samples all the time!! :)

Maybe she was talking about the shipping payment. I've ordered a sample of a minrela makeup from Ellana Minerals. The samples are free, but I just have to pay for the shipping expense ;)

Yeah I actually saw some samples for sale in ebay. Funny as it is I tried buying one because I don't have that much time to look around for a free sample. It was cheap for $0.30 so and used it 7 times and it was so worth it. I tried skin79 bb cream and the experience was amazing so I bough the 50ml one and I am enjoying every single application. The good thing about it is that I don't need too much because a pea size can already cover my entire face as I don't have that much blemishes to cover. I am so amazed that I also bought Hanskin Gold Caviar BB Cream and I just like it a lot too. I'm looking forward to buying Missha and Tony Moly. I never had any breakouts and I even notice my skin looking a lot clearer. Thanks for suggesting it cosmeticlover! I owe you my new flawless look :)

oh ya. thats what I was trying to say...haha

But when I just came to the States..I didnt know where to go to get Asian skin care products, hair products...etc

So I was browzing online... So when I type in the product name, some website shows (like ebay & amazon) the product, but actually charges you!

I think its because a lot of time Asian brands (unless big company like Kose, Shiseido, Shu Uemura, etc) don't have official English website.... (only in Japan) & the Japanese website don't offer Oversea shipments...

so I guess Ebay & Amazon..would come up with samples..but charging around less than 50cents for the Samples..lol & Additionally with Shipping fee :(
which sucks...

But still..as a consumer stand point I dont think that is right!
sample = free! lol (unless its a trial kit, then its unerstandable...)

I have tried so many foundations and concealer to hide my pores on the face.
Some of them do a good job, but it's difficult to make my face look flawless. But, thanks for the tips, I need to try balancing the moisturiser with the foundation and powder.

For Flawless look. You should have a good foundation. Have you heard about Omorovicza? They have this stealth foundation which is really good. It conceals imperfections and gives the skin an even matte finish.

I haven't heard of Omorovicza as well. But if you want t flawless look and you have a way of buying bb creams, I suggest you try it. It's different from foundation because it's a cream that cares for your skin and at the same time evens the skin tone for a more flawless finish. I have tried 6 different bb creams now and all of them are working great for me. Even my mom noticed that some of her wrinkles are gone. You can try some samples which are available in ebay to see if it works for you like it did for me and the rest of the bb cream enthusiasts :cheer2:
